I was honored (and a little nervous) to speak about the troops and this blog in a documentary film and on a radio talk show. Hoping both venues are more steps to help close the divide between civilian and military worlds.
Film
They interviewed Rudy Giuliani, General Franklin Hagenbeck, General Spider Marks, Barbara Van Dahlen, veterans of the current wars, the Vietnam War and then called me. Yes. I was surprised too. Director Tom Donahue is making a film about issues facing veterans and the divide between military and civilians. After he read this blog he asked if would speak to him. Here’s a pic from the shoot. They have others to interview and the film will take about a year to complete.
Radio
Sandra Beck, one of the hosts of Military Moms Talk Radio had come across this blog and invited me on the show. Robin Boyd (the host that interviewed me) was very warm and easy-going. Below is just my segment minus the ads.
And in the news…
Seymour Johnson Air Force Base shared my blog post The Day I Got A Flag in their print and online news editions. They edited it slightly (Unit designation, their style guide etc.) And I had edited my version slightly to make the ending stronger. If you know me, you know I have a hard time with the idea of “pencils down” when I can keep crafting. Below is their link and mine. In the photo, I blurred out the other stories.
